London, August 2. King Edward has, through the usual official channels, thaiked the Senate of the Now Zealand University for its sympathy on the deatli of Queen Victoria. His Majesty assures the Senate that it will ahvays be his earnest endeavor to promote by all means in his power the moral and intellectual advancement of his loyal subjects in New Zealand.
