POULTRY RAISING.
(Special to Times.) Wellington, last night.
The poultry-raising and egg-producing experiments oil the part of the Government with a view to encouraging settlers to improve tho breed of poultry in the colony would appoar to he attaining tho object aimed for. lam told that the demands made this year for eggs and birds at the minimum prices charged are so great that it is doubtful whether orders can he fulfilled. Tho export trade that is gradually building up has encouraged many to" see the profit in poultry-raising, and the fact of Government supervision at tho export centres has brought home the conviction that it is no use sending anything but good marketable poultry. Tho Department has decided upon the removal next year of the breeding station now on the island of Motuhihi, Auckland, to the experimental farm recently acquired near Hamilton, in the Waikato.
