IMPORTANT DECISION.
TRADES UNION SECRETARY ASTOUNDED. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright Loudon, Sept. 4. Mr C. W. Bowerman, Secretary of the London Compositors’ Union, presiding at the Trades Union Congress at Swansea, described the decision in regard to Taffavale as astounding and unexpected, changing the fundamental basis of labor organisations. The position, he said, was intolerable, and intended to secure legal pauperisation of workmen. He suggested amendments in the rules as to liability for damages, to protect the benevoleat funds.
