MAGNETIC HEALER.
CLAIMS TO BE PHILANTHROPIST.

Dunedin, last night. At the Police Court, l’ercival Coumiins was charged with that on September 20th, at Dunedin, he did wilfully and falsely use the name and title of “Doctor,” implying that ho was recognised by law as a practitioner in medicine.
For the defence it was alleged that the defendant was a philanthropist who did not charge for advice, and sold medicine at cost price, but, as 7 5 per cent, of thoso he treated were not able to. pay a penny, lie gave it away, ile claimed to he a magnetic heaior, and claimed the title “ doctor” because he was a teacher of the truth.
Mr Graham, S.H., had doubts whether plates with ‘'Doctor” and hours of attendance were not calculated to deceive. He, however, dismissed the case on its merits.
