“Singing Valley,”

Berlin, Nov. 9.

One of the most extraordinary natural phenomena in the world has boon discovered in a valley watered bv a tributary of the river Moselle. The air at different points of this valley vibrates with throe distinct musical notes—C major at the entrance, E toward the middle, F at the upper end. The sounds aro like those of bells, but as there is no bell within miles of the valley this cannot bo the cause of the sounds.

Professor Gunther, au expert in acoustics, has started for the valley to investigate the phenomena. Other scientists who have been there favor the theory that the aerial belllike notes arise from tho fall of a stream in the middle of tho valley. But why should tho sound assume a musical form in this particular valley'? Tho “Singing Valley” is already attracting crowds of curious visitors.
