A Trooper’s Explanation.
(To the Editor of the Times.)
Sir, — As a trooper having served with the Fifth Contingent and chosen to go with the Eighth, it is indeed a matter of surprise to read iu the local papers that I was “ thrown cut ”at Trentham. This is not the case. The fact is I asked for the money due to me for my previous services in South Africa, and not getting any satisfaction refused to serve in the Eighth until paid in full before leaving the colony.— I am, etc., ” j W.
