GISBORNE HORSE AGAIN WINS THE STEEPLECHASE.

For the Takapuna Jockey Club’s Summer Meeting, third day, the weather was fine, and the attendance good. The total receipts for the day were £11,366. The results were : Marine Handicap, 5 furlongs : Sensation 1, Loch Fine 2, Rondoletta 3. Also started : Bastion and Dandeloo. Won by a short head. Time, 1.5 3-5. Divs., inside £3 19s, outside £4 Is. Borough Handicap, 4 furlongs : Lady Avon 1, Cressy 2, Reclaimer 3. Scratched : Sentinel and Telephone. Won easily by a length. Donnybrook and Sophia fell.
Time, olsec. Divs., inside Lady Avon £3 10s 6d, Cressy £6 4s, outsida Lady Avon £3 11s, Cressy £lO 9s 6d. Summer Handicap, 1 mile : Defender
1, Regalia 11. 2, Red Lancer 3. Scratched : Sparkling Water. Won by a bead after a great set to in the straight between the placed division. Time, 1.43. Divs., inside £3 19s and 15s 6d, outside £3 16s and 15s.
Second Handicap Hurdles, If miles.— Royal Conqueror 1, Khama 2, Tim 3. Scratched: Evening Wonder and Rufus. Won easily by three lengths. Time, 3.17 3-5. Divs., inside £1 18s 6d and £1 Is, outside £2 Is 6d and 19s.
Third Pony Handicap, 5 furlongs.— Girton Girl 1, First Whisper 2, Blue Paul 3. Scratched: Orange and Blue, Sentinel, and Polly Perkins. Won by half a length. Time, 1.5 3-5. Divs., inside £4 8s and £1 6s 6d, outside £3 5s and £1 5s 6d.
Devonport Handicap, 6 furlongs.—St. Olga 1, Jewellery 2, Orange and Blue 3. St Olga won by three lengths. Time, 1.16. Divs., £5 13s and £1 16s. Second Steeplechase, about 3 miles.— Evening Wonder 1, Jack 2, Straybird 3. Won easily. All started. Rufus and Puffing Billy fell. Time, 6.29. Divs., inside £1 7s and £2 7s 6d, outside £1 8s and £2 3s 6d. Berry, the rider of Rufus, was badly hurt. Welter Handicap, 1 mile.—Bacchus 1, Golden Rose 2, Cuirassette 3. Scratched: Takapuna, Honesty, and Paul Seaton. Won by two lengths under pressure. Brilliant fell and broke his leg. Divs,, inside £7 19s 6d and 14s 6d, outside £8 11s 6d and 14s 6d.
