CONFERENCE OF PREMIERS.

Mr Barton received a letter from Sir Wilfrid Laurier in reference to the proposed conference in London. It suggest* in the meantime that it would be convenient if the respective Governments were to intimate to each other some of the subjects proposed for discussion. He submits the following questions :—Closer trade relations, improvments of mail service between Canada, Australia, and Britain, improvement in transportation facilities by the establishment of firstclass passenger steamers between Australia and Vancouver, the establishment of cargo steamers between Australasia and Atlantic ports, calling at South Africa, and consideration of the effect on the Pacific Cable by the concession granted by New South Wales to the Eastern Extension Cable Company.
