THE GRADING OF CHEESE.
MEETING AT INVERCARGILL. [bx telegram, press association.] Invercargill, last night. The Southland cheose-makers and others intorosted had to-day the opportunity of seeing the Government grader at work at the Bluff, on the invitation of the National Dairying Association, Mr Kinsella, Dairy Commissioner, and others of the staff were present, Mr Thornton, being the grador. In the evening a meeting was held in town, when tho grading was explained, and although the feeling was expressed that] an arbitrary division into grades one and two was not altogether satisfactory, nor likely to have the best results in the improvement of the quality of cheese, there was nothing better which would also suit buyers which could bo agreed on. Tne meeting supported the attitude taken by tho Premier regarding branding, and agreed to urge the importance of insisting on indelible branding inside and out of the cases, with the name of the factory and colony, each grading to have only one registered brand.
