MARTIN AND SUTHERLAND EVEN FOR CHAMPIONSHIP. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, last night. There was a large attendance at tho Caledonian Ground on the occasion of tho Otago Cycling Club’s meeting. Tho Governor and Premier putin an appoaranco. Tho results were:—
Half-mile Dash, final: A. Ralston 1, Sangster 2, N. Ralston 8. Time 1.9 3-5. Mile Amateur Handicap : W. Pearse, 40yds, 1; Churchill, 90yds, 2. Time 2.27 3-5.
Two Mile Wheel Race, final: W. Palmer, 95yds, 1; Uonucll 2. Martin did not start. Time 4.52 2-5. CiIAMPIONSHIr of Otago.
First distance, one milo: Martin 1, Sutherland 2, A. Ralston 3, Hallard 4. Won by eight inches in 2.17. Three Miles: Sutherland 1, Martin 2, Connell 3, A. Ralston 4. Won by half-a-wheel, in. 7.22 2-5.
Martin and Sutherland being equal, divided the prizes, Ralston being third. Mile Second Class Handicap : N. Ralston, 25yds, 1; Craig, 70yds, 2 ; Anderson, 35yds, 3. Timo 2.18 2-5. Multicycle Race : Connell and Hucston, scr, 1; O’Connor and Pearse, 12yds, 2. 220yds Flat: Stalker, ser, 1; Mooney, 10yds, 2 ; Price, Byds, 3. Time 24 1-5.
