The settlement at Ichol of the claims of Christian converts led to riots. Brigands pillaged the district and kidnapped the Belgian missionary. Five hundred Cossacks have gone to Ichol, which is 115 miles north-east of Pekin STRIKE SETTLED. ROME.
March 10.—M. Giolitti, Italian Minister of the Interior, has settled the threatened strike of railway men hy promising payment of the sum which they demand, the payment to be given by instalments over three years.
