ACCIDENTALLY KILLED.
[by telegraph—press association.] Greymouth, last night. A man named Johnston, second mate of the steamer Petone, was accidentally killed to-night while loading timber at the wharf. Some timber slipped off the truck, killing him instantly. The men around him were unaware of the accident until the timber was being removed. Johnston was formerly chief mate of the Oreti.
