TEE HORRIBLE CANNIBALS. EARTHQUAKES. By Telegraph—Press Aaaooiation—Copyright Sydney, March 21. The steamer Matnbare, from the New Hebrides, reports that a tribal war is raging fat Tauna. Many have been killed and captured and eaten. One body was buried for twelve days before it was eaten, j Since the Mambare’s last visit to the island, fifty-one people were killed in tribal encounters. The Rev. Mr Patton went to the battlefield at the risk of his life to dttend the wounded. Several severe shocks of earthquake have lately caused much damage in the various] islands, followed by a tidal wave fifteen feet high, which washed away the trade sheds and small craft.
