PRESBYTERIAN SYNOD.

(Per Press Association, l DUNEDIN, last night.

At the Presbyterian Synod meeting a verbal report on the -Bible in schools question was made by the Rev. J. Gibb, who indicated that the ‘Wesleyan Church had adopted their platform. The Bishop of Wellington had informed him that the platform was the same as the one he had been advocating, on behalf of which he had formed a powerful association. The warden of Selwvn College had intimated that the Church of Otago was prepared to fall in heartily• with the basis. If they set their minds to it, and did all that it was in their power to do, he was persuaded that they would gain that light for which they had been so long contending. It was agreed that Ihn attention of Presbyterians be called to the requirements of the General Assembly, and recommend, them to take immediate action. In speaking on home and foreign missions, the Rev. Jas. Chisholm said he had been struck' by the fact that while during ten years' there had been an increase of 2481 in the Presbyterian population of Dunedin and suburbs, the membership of the Church had only'increased by 360.
