The police found Doyle’s uorse with a quantity of charred hones, teeth, and buttons in the saddle bags. The bushrangers had evidently burned the bodies of the victims, placed their charred remains in the saddle bags, and the horse broke away l'romj them.
Black trackers traced the tracks of James Kenniff, senior, John and Thomas, who are in custody, to the scene of the murder.
It is supposed that they tried to obliterate the tracks of James and Patrick.
It is practically certain that Thomas was present when the crimes were committed.
