By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, last night. At a meeting of tho comiuitteo of tho Rugby Union, Messrs MacArthur, Murray, McDonald, Falknor, and Isaacs wore appointed delegates to the New Zealand Union. The President, Mr Jamos Hutchinson, was nominated as a vico-president of the New Zealand Union, and it was decided to notify the secretary that it was proposed to sond a team to Southland, Canterbury, Wellington, and Hawke’s Bay this season. The question of the Jeffcoat bequest came before the Univorsity Council to-day. The late Dr Jeffcoat bequeathed £IO,OOO to found a scholarship, but by codicil revoked it. Unfortunately tho codicil was not signed. On his untimely death it was found that the estate was not able to pay the bequest. As the Council had no power to surrender its rights, all ihat could be done was to take no steps to obtain possession. To-day, a letter was received, stating that a bill would bo introduced by the Council, authorising it to forego its rights. The letter was received. The Council decided to close the Ulrich Memorial fund at tho end of this month. The fund will be devoted to founding a medal for proficiency in mineralology and petrography, in honor of the late Professor Ulrich.
