WESTLAND AND THE KING.
(Per press .association.) HOKITIKA, last night.
The address from the people of Westland to King Edward is being forwarded .to the Premier to-day for presentation when the latter is in England. The address has been prepared in album form, containing a West Coast photographs,, including some wild mountain scenery of South Westland, with magnificent views ol Franz Joseph Glazier. The album is encased in a handsome cabinet of polished West Coast wood, beautifully mottled. The cabinet has also greenstone and gold mountings, and is splendidly finished. A slab of beveled 'greenstone rests on top, surmounted by a gold crown with gold fern leaves at the sides, and gold-mounted, greenstone pillars support the sides, while the handles are also of greenstone and gold. A plate bears the inscription : “ From the people of Westland, New Zealand, June, 1902.” The present is altogether of unique design and character, and is being most generally admired.
