MAORI COUNCILS.

(Special to Times.) Auckland, last night. The chiefs of the Tauranga district, after consultation on the 9th inst., deferred nominating 12 members for the Maori Council, pending the arrival of the Hon. .J. Carroll to explain the principles of the Alaori legislation of last session. When Mr Carroll attends it is expected the law will be immediately brought into operation.
