NELSON NEWS.

By Telegraph—Press Association. Nelson, last night. Mr Fred. Vause, formerly of Dunedin, landlord of the Wakatu hotel, died this evening after a few days’ illness. The members of the Roman Catholic Church of this district to-night presented Dean Mahoney with a purse of one hundred and twenty-five sovs. The Dean is leaving for the Old Country by the Athenic on a visit for the benefit of his health.

Twenty applications were received, from all parts of the colony, for the position of teacher of drawing at Nelson Foliage. Mr Huddleston has been appointed.
