.VINCENT COUNTY. (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN-, last night. Mr Cuthbertson, of Invercargill, has been appointed Engineer to the .Vincent County. PATRIOTIC FUND. The Patriotic Fund, which stood at over £SOOO when it was decided, to devote it to the assistance of returned men, has dwindled down to £2313. The amount disbursed has been £3047.

At Port Chalmers to-day, John Murray, a seaman on the ’Rangatira, was sentenced to six months' hard labor for stealing a quantity or cargo, consisting of Japanese goods valued at £52, and a number of Dottles of English ale.
