OUTDOOR WORK SUSPENDED.

By Telegraph—Press Association Palmerston North, last night; To-day has been one of the coldest and most boisterous days experienced here for many years. The glass has been lower than observers have ever noticed it, and peals of thunder and flashes of lightning have been constant all day with heavy showers of rain, hail, and sleet at frequent intervals. All the rivers and creeks in the district are rising and outdoor work has been completely suspended.
