MR SEDDON IN SOUTH AFRICA.
AN IMPORTANT SPEECH. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, May 26. Mr Seddon, in his speech at Pretoria, recommended that South Africa should adopt the Now Zealand laws. The time was ripe for the importation of Australasian stock. It was imperative that tho Empire should take measures for self protection, to retain the supremacy of trade, which was threatened by a greater danger than war. With preferential trade the Colonies would be able to greatly ease the burdens of the tax-payers by giving trade to Great Britain. DECLARATION OF PEACE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Loudon, May 27. Replying to the Capetown Corporation’s address of welcome, Mr Seddon said he felt peace was not far away. He advocated a colonial open door for British products.
