Rugby Union.

The usual weekly meeting of the Poverty Bay Rugby Union was held last evening when there was a full attendance of delegates, Mr Miller presiding. Correspondence was received from the Union’s delegate to the New Zealand Union, from which the Union were assured that its interests would be carefully guarded in reference to the various motions’to be considered at the forthcoming meeting of the New Zealand Union. Application was received from the Poverty Bay Hockey Association for permission to play on No. 1 ground; also granted subject to certain conditions. Several new players were added to the lists of the various clubs. In regard to the Huia Football Club not putting a team on the field last Saturday, the secretary of that club stated that it was not on account of a certain member’s application for admission being refused, but that through inadvertence the names had not been published, and on account of the bad weather many players thought that the match would be postponed- He also pointed out that it was not known that the before-mentioned player’s application had been refused ; also that the club would certainly put two" teams in the field to-day. Mr R. Cole was appointed referee in today’s senior match, and Mr J. Webb for the junior.
