Tho oaso of Hohepa Wi Pera v. Wallis (Bishop of Wellington) and the SolicitorGeneral is being argued. There is a further phase of the litigation in regard to the reserve at Porirua for tho purposes of a native school or college. The reserve was oedod to the Crown by tho natives, and granted by tho Crown to Bishop Selwyn for tho above purpose. Owing to various circumstances, no school or college was ever erected, and in recont proceedings between tho Crown and the present trustees tho Court of Appeal decided that tho Crown grant had become void, owing to failuro to carry out tho trusts, and that tho land and accumulated rents and the profits had now roverted to tho Crown. Plaintiff alloges tho Crown grant to havo been void from tho outset, and claims possession of tho land from tho Crown on behalf of tho successors of formor native owners, and also rents and profits of the land from the trustees who havo beon administering it in the meantime. Certain issues of law were ordered to bo argued before trial, and have boon removed for argument into tho Court of Appeal. It is these issues of law which are at present before the Court. ■
