In a bush town not a hundred miles from Nap er a storekeeper recently ordered some dog collars irom a Wellington firm. The order came to hand when it was discovered that the collars were “made in Germany.’* The storekeeper promptly returned them to the merchant. The twelfth he sent to the Right Hon. Joseph Chamberlain with a polite note calling his attention to the iacl. and asking why we could not get English articles of the kind in the colonies. By last mail he received ir courteous reply from the Colonial Secretary, informing him that he had passed his letter on to the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, who had promised to enquire into the matter. The storekeeper also received from that body a letter stating that they were in receipt of his letter, and were making the facts therein deta led the subject al investigation.
