A VETERANS’ HOME.

This afternoon tho dolcgatos to tho Municipal Conference were entertained at Government House, where Lord Kanfurly addressed them with regard to his schomo for tho establishment of a Homo for thoso Colonial and Imporial veterans who may be in impoverished circumstances. His Excellency went fully into the subject, his address being in a groat measuro a recapitulation of what ho has already said on tho subject. Ho asked that tho municipalities should assist by calling public meetings to discuss the project, aud if possible receive subscriptions. He estimated that .£4,000 would be required for building, and that £15,000 would bo wantod to provide upkeep for tho establishment. His Excellency suggested four places which he thought might bo suitable for tho location of the Home, namely, Auckland, Napier, Now Plymouth, or Nelson, though the latter might bo objected to on account of its somewhat isolated situation. That, however, would be a matter for consideration and determination of tho Executive Committee,
