DRUIDS’ SOCIAL.
A MOST SUCCESSFUL GATHERING
The annual social gathering held by the Turaugauui Lodge of Druids is always looked forward to as one of the most pleasant functions of the year, and that held last evening in the Theatre Royal was no exception to the rule. Indeed we might go further and add that it was the most successful social yet held, for not only was there a record attendance, but everything else was in keeping to ensure a most pleasant evening, everything passing oil without the slightest hitch of any kind. The decorations were a work of art, the hall being one blaze of bunting, and presenting a most attractive appearance. Flags were kindly lent for the occasion by the Borough Council, Mr W. Pettie and others, whilst Mr J. Martin supplied a number of Chinese lanterns. Excellent music was supplied by Mrs Fernandez (piano) and Mr Trounson (cornet), and dancing was continued with spirit throughout the evening. The Committee are to be congratulated upon the complete arrangements made in regard to the supper, and there was not the slightest crowding at any time during the evening. The edibles were supplied by Mr J. Craig, who spared no expense in his endeavor to put on a good spreud, and the attendance as usual was excellent. Many members of the Lodge were present in regalia, and a feature of the evening was the dance in which they all took part. The following comprised the committee : Bro. 11. T. Seymour, J. R. Little, W. Ardern, P. 0. Grooves, J. Dower, D. McKenzie, F. Newoy, G. Edwards, D. C. Hawkins, J. C. Griffen, A. Wade, P. Maher, 11, J. Haycock, C. Henderson, Stevenson, F. Goldsmith, H. Burns, C. Neenan, J. Thomson, H. Craill, K. McKenzie, 11. Lougher, F. Ferguson, F. Harris, T. G. Lawless, J. H. Franklin, T. Rouse, and M. Craig. A word of praise is duo to the Secretary, Mr J. Eaton, for the manner in which ho performed the duties of that office, and the great success of the social was in no small measure due to his efforts. Dancing was continued until an early hour this morning,
