DEBATE IN CAPE PARLIAMENT,

The Assembly debated tho conduct of members of the Afrikander Bond during tho war. Thereon, tho President of tho Bond, eulog'sed Lord Kitchonor’s fairness. Ho declared that the Bond would determinedly defend the flag, but claimed tho use of the Dutch language on on equality with French in Canada.
Mr Lang moved an amendment for extending the scope of tho proposed inquiry to all Bondsmen, and summoning tho Bond to express regret at tho rebellion. In the course of his speech, ho contrasted the admirable conduct of the Boer Generals before reaching Capetown with their attitude after contact with polffic'aus there. Ho added that nobody on tho Bond side, excepting Thereon and DoWaal, admitted that tho rebellion was wrong.
The amendment was negatived by 85 to 24.
Tho Ministry voted against tho Bond,
DeWaal’s motion for a Select Commit tee of Enquiry was then carried witboul division.
