[By Tolegraph— Press Association.) - Palmerston North, last n’ght. Mr W. T. Wood, the Government can- , didato for tbo Palmerston seat, addressed a very iurge meeting of electors here tonight. His speech was mainly in favor of the Government policy, and he declared himself a supporter, tnough not a blind follower of the Premier. At the conclusion of the speech, which was attentively' listened to, a vote of tnanks and confidence was earned unanimously. A STRIKING SPECTACLE. At two minutes before 8 o’clock to-night an extremely brilliant meteor was seen here fulling from the north-eastern sky, It lit up the whole district, aud. was a very striking spectacle.
