BURNED TO DEATH, Per Press Association. WAIPAWA, last night. An aged Maori chief, Hemi Turupu, was burned to death on New Year s Eve at Kairakau, through his wharc accidentally catching fire. Only las legs and his arms were found, the body being consumed^ RAILWAY HAND MUTILATED* PALMERSTON N., :last night. A shocking fatality occurred at the railway station this morning, Alexander, Buchan, head storeman, being run over by a shunting train. ihe accident occurred while deceased eyas passing between some carriages which were in motion. Death was almost instantaneous., ITis right leg was severed at the knee and practically at the bip, and his left leg, also practically severed at tho hipj Deceased expired before he was extricated from the wheels.
