ANTHRAX IN SOUTH.

(By Telegraph—Pross Association.) Invercargill, last night. Two more cows havo died at Woodlands from anthrax. The outbreak has been traced to bones brought to the Bluff by the Aparima from India, and tho cause and effect has been more cloarly demonstrated than in any previous outbreak in the colony. Bags containing bones woro placed in lime in the paddocks whore the cattle woro grazing, and some of their contents was spilt on the grass. Tho bones may have boon licked up or taken direct from the bags. A sample of the bones has been forwarded to Mr (iilruth to determine the presence of autbrax bacillus. \ portion of the consignment was steamed in India and the balance here, but not in a thorough sterilising plant on modern principles. Suoh plants at the chief ports, capable of allowing steam to premeate the vat thoroughly, 'ate held to bo most essential.
