Bishop of Melahas been sent ny .... • -- - <z Ril . nesia as a deputation to New land to inform the many friends of 1 lie mission in this colony of the progress of the work in the Islands, arrived in Gisborne by the Omaperc on Saturday. Yesterday lie preached in Holy Trinity Church at both morning and evening services, and also :onducted a children's service in the ifternoon.
On Tuesday evening Mr Hopkins will deliver an illustrated lecture on “Missionary Work in Melanesia." in McFarlands Hall, which, judging from the eloquent sermons which lie preached yesterday, cannot fail to be full of interest to all who give attention to missionary work.
