There were fifteen starters for tho Austral Wheel Race, including the New Zealanders Chalmers and Plunkett. Forbes was leading two laps from home, followed by Auger and Lewis. Auger tackled the leader at the turn, and there was a great race, won by a length and a half. Time, 4.261-5.

The winner is 22 years of age, and only started racing last season.
