Melbourne, Feb. 8. Sir E. Barton stales that be knows nothing of the New Zealand proposal to obtain a training ship for boys. Ho is inclined to think New Zealand is auxious to have the services of one of the gunboats. In that case it would be attached to the auxiliary squadron if the new naval agreement comes into effect. The agreement makes no provision for a training ship for boys, so tho fresh proposal is one that New Zealand adopts ou its own responsibility, and not a matter upon which the Federal Government could have anything to say.
