During the wool sales, 65,000 bales were sold for Home consumption, 58,000 for the Continent, and 4800 for America, while 14,000 bales were held over. Compared with the closing rates of the December series, Merinos and low crossbred were at par. Fine crossbreds showed an advance of 5 per cent., and in some instances higher. The Waihora clip sold at 6 3-Bd. The stocks of tallow amount to 15,492 casks; the imports are 2731, and deliveries 3198.
Wellington, last night. The following cablegram has been received to-day by the Department of Industries and Commerce from the AgentGeneral, London " The wool sales have closed. During the last few days, the wool market has declined. Fine crossbreds of all grades are j-d dearer than in December. For sound merinos the market closed strong, and prices were sustained at the close. Lambs’ wool is -Id in advance.”
