ARBITRATION COURT.
OPINION OP THE PREMIER,
By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. Replying to deputations of trades unionists complaining of tho administration of tho Arbitration Court, the Premier promised to make enquiries as to the cause of dolays. A radical change seemed necessary. lie was sorry to hear the expressions of opinion concerning the Court which he had heard lately. The appointment of a Supreme Court judge as president of the Court, it was thought, would office and the whole thing a give ti-- and be better for all superior p05t,...., d now that parties concerned, but it 5,.. , it was instead going to draw down the Supreme Court itself, If tmwent on he thought it would be a matter for the Legislative to take into consideration. He would say without hesitation that he did not think the president of tho Court would desiro to act partially or do anything unfair or unjust. If employers and unions were continually being harassed by anything being done in administering the Act that was never intended by the Legislature, he would take good care to see it did not go on. With respect to proceedings for breaches of the award ho thought this should be done by someone outside the unious, and that the Government would have to appoint some outside authority, neither unionist nor employer nor under the control of either.
