By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Brisbane, Feb. 5 I At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce, members holly condemned the Federal tariff and Mr Kingston’s brutal, insulting administration of the Customs Department. In order to show their disgust, they decided to ignore Mr Kingston’s visit to Brisbane. Melbourne, Feb. 5. It is now stated that the amount asked for the Tasmanian cable is .£70,000. The Legislative Council struck out of the Reform Bill a claim providing for tho dissolution of .the Council when tire Bill became law, and carried an amendment iixing tho number of members at forty-two instead of twenty-six. Sydney, Feb. 5. In replying to enquiries, the Commercial Agent at the Cape has informed the Premier that tho price of sheep c.i.f. at Capetown and Durban is—owes, 22s to 30s ; wethers, dressed, tiOlb, 28s Gd. The labor conference has closed. It adopted a resolution condemning the addition of the title of Lord to the Mayoralty as another link in tho chain of objectionable Imperialism, and in every way opposed to the best interests of the community.
