The German nowspapers are bitterly disappointed ovor the result of tho Venezuela settlement, and' admit that Monroeism emerges stronger than ever. American prestige alone is heightened. Sternberg, the German Minister, is severely criticised for his obsequiousness. The success of the protocols is attributed to Mr Herbert’s firmness.
