In the House of Lords, Lord Tweedomouth asked for additional papers dealing with Venezuela. Lord Lansdowno denied that there was a risk of alienating American sympathies. Germany assured Washington early last year that sho did not intend the smallest acquisition ot territory in South America or adjoining lands. Great Britain’s official intimation to Washington concerning tho blockade was made in November, but there wore excellent reasons for knowing how Washington was likely to regard our uctlon.
