CRICKET ASSOCIATION.

Dunedin, last night. At a meeting of the Cricket Association to-night, it was stated there had been a profit of £B6 11s 8d on the match Lord Hawke’s team v. Otago, and £llO 3s 4d on the South Island match. It was decided to make a presentation to Mr A. Downes for his many bowling performances for Otago. In the matter of getting a coach from England, a sub committee was appointed to deal with the subject. CHARITABLE POLLARDS.

A fancy costume cricket match, given by Pollard’s Opera Company in aid of local charities, was attended by over 2000 peoplo. __________

A local auctioneer is back from the valley of the dark shadows. He is now rostorod to health, although the fever all but knocked bim down a bargain to the old man with the scythe. The doctor who attended him remarks that during the progress of the disease he remarked to the nurse that the patient’s temperature had risen to 103, whereupon the k.iight of the hammer repliod drowsily : “ Hundred an' three 1 Hundred an’ three!
