Earthquakes havo boen felt at Georgetown and Gladstone. At tho former place thoy woro accompanied by a loud report and a sharp vibration lasting throo or four seconds. Received J 2.53 a.in., April 8. MELBOURNE, April 7.There was a very severe earthquake at Warnambool to-day, causing great consternation, the inhabitants rushing from the houses and shops into the streets.

The direction or the shock wan south-west anti north-east, and lasted about len seconds, being accompanied by a loud rumbling noise. TJic children of the State school stampeded in fright. A massive stone cross on the turret of St. John's Presbyterian Church Was dislodged, and crasiied through the rooL VVarrnambool Town I-lail received a good deal of damage, the ceilings falling, while one wall was cracked right through. A number of chimneys in private houses were thrown down. The shock was severely felt at Port fairy, although at Koroil, half-way between Warrnambool and Port fairy it was not felt at all.
