At tho meeting of tho Hawke’s Bay Education Board to-day a communication was roccivod from tho Gisborne High School governors, pointing out that the governors had been in tho habit of giving scholarships supplementary to those given by tho Board to passed pupils On tho condition upon which theso scholarships wero Jgranted each scholar got £5 4s before tho cancellation of the grant. It thus happened that the governors’ scholars received JES 4s. while the Board’s scholars were offorod only j£l Ida, Thi“ was felt to bo an injustice, as the most worthy receivod tho least. Tho Board was now asked to pay the sum of 413 8s to each of its seven scholarship holders, in addition to Tl 16s offered to equalise the grants it agreed to.
