ADDINGTON MARKET.

,(Fer Press Association.) Christchurch, last night,

There was a full yarding at Addington market to-day, 20,000 sheep, 550 cattle, and 400 pigs being penned. There was a good attendance of buyers, but the sale not finishing till after dark the last pons of sheep suffered in the competition. Fat cattle: 194 head were yardod, principally light heifers and cows. There was a good demand at lato rates; steers brought JE6 17s fid to JE9, heifers £ij 15s to £8 15s, cows £5 5s to £9 7s 6d, beef 24s to 27s per 1001 b. Fat sheep: Tho yarding included a good proportion of first quality wethors and ewes. Prime wethers were keenly competed for, and sold readily at recent rates, but export buyers neglected ewes and tho values eased in consequence. Towards the close of the sale the attendance of buyers was small, and as the result a number of good lines were passed unsold. The range of prices was : Best freezing wethers 17s to 18s 6d, heavy wethers to 19s lid, lighter wethers 14s to 16s 6d, maiden owes 14s 5d to 16s lOd, freezing ewes 11s to 14s 6d, butchers’ owes 9s 6d to 16s 7d, extra heavy to 19s 6d. Fat Lambs.—2B3o wore entered, including a large proportion of hardly prime, and for theso the sale was dragging. For all fit for freezing there was competition, though prices wero a shade easier than last week. Freezers brought 12s 6d to 14s lOd, tegs to 15s 7d, butcher? 11s to 13s 6d. Pigs.—Thero was a good entry, which included a number of first-class quality baconors and porkers. The competition was. not -particularly keon, and prices all round wero inclined to bo irregular. Choppers brought up to 4)4 7s 6d, baconers from ‘IGs to 6t)a (equal to from Od to S.Vd per lb), porkers from 28s to 45s (equal to from 5d to 6d per lb). Stores were hard to sell at prices ranging from 18s to 30s, and for weauors from 6s to 10s.
