The Devonporfc Borough Council has beeu informed by the Treasury that it has stopped JEISO 3s subsidy from £IS6 10s, duo as the Council’s contribution to the infectious diseases hospital, leaving the Council ,£27 odd. The Chairman said the Treasury had evidently combined to adopt the mailed fist policy of Dr Mason. The Council unanimously resolved to protest, asking the Treasury to pay the full subsidy and take its legal remedy for the sum now deducted. Ivomata Beefs returned £2500 from 1020 tons. Dividends have beeu declared in the Leylaud-O’Brien Timber Company, interim 10 per cent; South British Insurance Company, 2s 6d a share for the half-year. The steamer signalled, which was supposed to be a Chilian warship, proves to be the Hinemoa, from the lighthouses.
