ALLEGED FRAUD

By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, last night,

At the Magistrate’s Court this morning Arthur Holmes, alias Holt, was charged on remand with having committed fraud in Bradford, England. Inspector Gillies stated that the Home Secretary had been communicated with, and had cabled that the necessary papers would be sent out so that Holmes could be sent to England for trial. The English Polico Gazette showed the amount of the alleged frauds to be £4OO. A remand was requested for seven days. Mr Harris, for accused, submitted that there was no document before the Court on which his client might be arrested. Holmes had been in gaol for eight days. Mr Beetham granted the remand, advising Mr Harris to apply for a writ of habeas corpus. Bail was allowed, acousod in £IOO and two sureties in £IOO.
