In tho University tennis final of the men’s champion singles Brown (Otago) beat Stowe (Canterbury), 6—2, 6—l ; Rice (Canterbury) beat Prouse (Wellington), 6—4, 6—2 ; Rice beat Brown, 36, 6—4, 6—3. In the ladies’ champion singles Miss McCohen (Otago) beat Miss Batham (Wellington). Wellington, last night. At the tennis tournament to-day Miss Powdrell won the championship singles from Mrs Payne, 6—4, 6—B, 6—3. In the men’s championship singles C. Gore, Swanston, Dickie, Adams, and Cox each won their games. In the championship doubles Cox and Swanston beat Bruce and Swanson in the third round and Dickie and Wallace beat Kennedy and Ulrich. Ladies’ championship doubles : Misses Bell and Ledger beat Misses Robinson and Payton, Mrs Payne and Miss Cave beat Mrs Wilson and Miss Glasgow. In the combined championships, H. M. Gore and Miss Gore beat Lindsay and Miss Ward, Brown and Miss Travers beat Hunter and Mrs Howe.
