Per Press Associate in,
TIMARU, last night
At the Borough Assessment Court to-day nearly aJJ the hotel-keepers employed counsel to object to the valuations, and to ask lor reductions on the grounds that owing to the insecure position of licenses through the local option poll, hotel property had been greatly reduced in value. Counsel for The valuer replied that the valuation is‘to be on the annual letting value, and the valuation this year cannot he affected by the risks of what may happen 2i years hence. The Judge, Major Keddeli, adopted this view.
The Judge concurred with Ihe valuuer’s counsel, that this ground of objection should have been ?:aled iu the form of objection.:
All the hotel cases were then ad journed to next day, to allow coun sel to consult clients.
