DEATH OF MAGISTRATE.

Mr Duncan Macfarlane, Stipendiary Magistrate and a Warden of tho Westland District, died early this morning. Deceased was 77 years of age, and had boon a magistrate for 27 years. Prior to that ho acted as immigration agent for tho Jackson Bay settlement. Deceased was one of tho best colonial authorities on alluvial goldmining. Ho leaves a wife and a large grown up family.
