A. AND P. SOCIETY. At a meeting of the Committee of the A. and P. Society, hold on Saturday, the following members were present: —Messrs Holden (in the chair), Dewing, Kirkpatrick, Smith, White, Eliott, Sherratt, Gray, Macfarlane, Bell, Wallis, Witters, Caasar, Watson, and Barker. SHOW GROUND. Mr Jas. Macfarlane wrote as follows “ In reply to your letter of the 28th April, I now beg to offer to your Association for a show ground 151 acres (about) of my land at To Hapara, being that piece lying between Childers road and tho railway line, and bounded on the cast side by Lytton road, for the sum of £3O per acre, £SO cash, and balance to remain for a term of, say, five years at 5 per cent., payablo half-yearly. In the event of your Association accepting this offer, I will take up debentures to assist in improving the ground, and erecting stands, etc., for £250." On tho motion of Mr Dewing, seconded by Mr Wallis, Mr Macfarlane’s offer was accepted, subject to the approval of a general meeting. Mr Macfarlane stated his offer held good for a month, pending the calling of a general meeting. NEW MEMBERS. Messrs F. Morgan and M. F. Bourko wore elected as members.

The Secretary stated that Mr Bourke was giving a special prize of Td os. DATE OF SHOW. Mr 11. N. Watson proposed October 15th aud 10th (Thursday and Friday) as tho dates for this year’s show. Tho Chairman stated the Hawke’s Bay show would bo held on October 21st and 22nd. Tho Secretary stated that Palmerston had timed theirs for the week after Christchurch, which would bo held tho first week in November. Mr Watson stated that the middle of October was most suitable for the show. Lamb-marking was then over, and shearing had not begun. If held late they would not be able to got men to attend to tho sheep, and shearing would be starting. Ho thought that the show should be kept apart from tho race week. He did not believe in toadying to Hawke’s Bay, and holding their show after Hawke’s Bay. By this means stock could be purchased in Hawke’s Bay and shown at Gisborne, according to tho local regulations, which did not exist in any other show in the colony. The purpose of the Society was to encourage the breeding of pure stock in the district, but such a regulation was encouraging outside men only. Hawke’s Bay gave Gisborne no special advantages. Mr Gray said if Mr Watson’s opinion was carried out logically be could not show any animals ho imported, whether he had purchased them three weeks or three months previously. Tho Chairman stated that if the regulation had been in force last year when he attended the Hawke’s Bay show, there would have been a dozen more exhibits at the Gisborne show. The object of the Society was to improve thoir stock, no mattor whether it came from Auckland or Hawke’s Bay. Mr Watson: It is a special regulation for Hawke’s Bay stock. Tho Chairman stated that owing to the isolation of Poverty Bay tho regulation referred to was necessary. Mr Sherratt moved, and Mr Wittors seconded, that tho dates be October 27th and 28th.

Mr Gray moved, and Mr Kirkpatrick seconded, that tho dates bo October 28th and 29th (Thursday and Friday). Mr Gray’s amendment was carried, and Octobor 28th and 29th are fixed as the dates. SUB-COMMITTEES. The following sub-committees were appointed : Programme Committee : The President, Vice-President, and Messrs F. Barker, G. Wittors, W. 8011, Kirkpatrick, and W. G. Sherratt. Ground Committoe: President, VicePresident, F. Barker, W. G. Sherratt, W. Bell, G. Witters, and G. E. Eliott. Catering Committee: President, VicePresident, L. T. Symes, and G. Eliott. It was decided that the Ground and Programme Committees should meet next Friday.

The total number of voters on the Greater Christchurch roll is prepared for the approaching municipal elections. It shows a slight decrease as compared with the total number on the rolls of the four amalgamating boroughs, when the vote on amalgamation was taken in January last. This is due largely to the fact that the voters who then possessed votes in more than one borough have now only a vote in the ward in which they reside. In January the total number on the city, Sydenham, St. Albans, aDd Linwood rolls was 91374, while on the Greater Christchurch roll just completed the total is only 6479,
