A TRAGIC DEATH.

ASKED HIS WIFE TO FORGET AND FORGIVE. (Per Press Association ) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. The inquest on the body of E. Y. Simpson was opened this morning, bin. after taking evidence covering the facts already known, was adjourned to Monday, as a portion of the body is to he analysed. The only fresh fact of importance elicited was that deceased left a pencilled note to his wife, asking her to forget and forgive him.

The evidence showed that Mr and Mrs Simpson were on excellent terms and that his financial position was sound, and nothing connected with business could have caused him to take his life.
